Let our political representatives know how important you are to the Gaspé Railway. Ask them to greatly reduce the time required to rehabilitate the railway so that Gaspé is once again accessible by rail.

Assemblée Nationale du Québec
The National Assembly of Quebec, made up of 125 MNAs, is the heart of democracy in Quebec.

Lobby your politicians to reopen the Gaspé Peninsula Railway more quickly than currently planned.

During his visit to New Richmond on Thursday, April 25, 2019, François Legault and François Bonnardel, Premier of Quebec and Minister of Transport of Quebec, announced that the Gaspé railway would be renovated by the year 2026, that is, in 7 years.

This delay is much too long because already since December 2011, VIA Rail’s passenger train service no longer goes to Gaspé and since August 2013, VIA Rail has suspended its service between Matapedia and New Carlisle.

Companies such as LM Wind Power (Gaspé) and McInnis Cement (Port-Daniel-Gascons) need the railway to be reopened and fully functional. The railway is an important economic lever for the Gaspé and companies need the train to transport their goods. Close to 600 well-paying jobs need the train to support their activities.

Send a short message to your political representatives to ask them to intervene to reduce the delays in the repair of the railroad which are much too long.

Read the following article in the May 1, 2019 The Gaspé Spec to learn more about the current situation.

Write a very short letter (email or mail) asking Mr. François Legault, Premier of Quebec, to greatly reduce the delays for the return of the train (goods and passengers) to Gaspé
